DAY-1

Arrive in the morning
Also known as the mountains of the moon, Rwenzori Mountains are one of the World’s
Best Hikes by National Geographic and seven summits Africa! Hope South Safaris’
representative will welcome and transfer you to Kampala for your rest and continue to
Mbarara Town where you will have your meals, before heading for the foothills of the
Mountains of Moon.

DAY-2

START OF THE EQUATOR GLACIERS TOUR
After a very early breakfast you will be transferred to Nyakalengija (1646 meters) where
the climb into the mountains begins from. This hike takes you through thick equatorial
vegetation along river Mubuku before arriving at the Nyabitaba hut (2650 meters). You
might hear or see chimpanzees and blue monkeys. Total hiking time: 5-7 hours,
Ascent: 1200 meters.

DAY-3

  JOHN MATTE HUT
After an early breakfast you will start the hike through the Kurt Sharfer Bridge to marvel
at the sparkling Mubuku river confluence, reaching the Nyamuleju hut in the afternoon
from where you might enjoy a nice view at Mount Stanley and Speke. Climb through the
open patches, lobelia, and heath moss forest when climaxing at the John Matte hut
(3415 meters) where you will have and spend the night. Total hiking time: 7 hours,
Ascent: 915 meters

DAY-4

BUJUKU HUT
After your breakfast begin the journey through the giant Lobelias and heath trees as you
ascend to the Bigo Bog and scenic landscape of lobelias and giant groundsels.
Majestically placed between the beautiful mountains is Lake Bujuku towards a famous
rock shelter called the Cooking Pot, hiking time: 3-5 hours, Ascent: 560 meters

DAY-5

Begin your day from a scenic valley of alpine vegetation consisting Giant Groundsels
and Lobelia and continue to ascend Mount Victoria and Mount Speke at 4890 meters.
Pass through the lovely eye catching Savoia and Elena glaciers; proceed to the Scott
Elliott pass through the snow to the Elena Hut (4560 meters) for your days climax. The
Elena Hut forms the base for the conqueror of the African Alps. Time: 3-5 hours.
Ascent: 470 meterssectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

DAY-6

FINAL ASCENT TO THE ALPS OF AFRICA!
Early breakfast then ascends to the snow covered Alexander peak (5092 meters) and
then proceed to the famous Margherita peak! Which is the highest at 5109 meters,
thereafter descend to the beautiful lake Kitandara for an overnight stay at Kitandara hut
(4020 meters). Hiking time: 3-5 hours. Ascent: 670 meters – Descent: 1090 meters

DAY-7

GUY YEOMAN HUT

After breakfast our way back begins with a climb from Lake Kitandara to the Freshfield
Pass with a distant look into the neighbouring Congo. We have lunch on the way and
continue to the Guy Yeoman hut (3260 meters) for dinner and overnight. Total hiking
time: 5-7 hours. Descent: 1000 meters.

DAY-8

NYABITABA HUT
Drop very steeply along the Mubuku River and join the original route near the Bujuku
River as you make the last part of the hike, hiking time: 5-7 hours. Descent: 600 meters.

DAY-9

KASESE
We descend to Nyakalengija in about 2-3 hours. Then to Kasese town to relax and
reflect on your hike of the highest peak in Uganda at Hotel Margherita.
Dinner and overnight at Hotel Margherita. Meal plan F.B.

DAY-10

DEPARTURE
With unforgettable memories you will say goodbye to the enjoyable enchanting peaks of
the mountains of the moon and leave for Kampala. Then you will be transferred to
Entebbe Airport for your flight. Stay another night to enjoy and experience night life in
Kampala the main city if you can.
